no hdd led

this might seem strange but it's happening in edgy eft.

i have a sata hdd connected to an asus a7n8x-e deluxe motherboard. for some reason the hdd led never lights up in ubuntu. i am sure that it is connected properly as it does light up during the post and during windows sessions.

anyone encountered the same problem?

as long as you can access the hd (read and write from/to), i don't see the problem. i've also looked at my led, while typing this, and it didn't light up, if that's any consolation.

i have the same problem with similar equipment. i think its a sata thing. the hdd led seems to be only for ide hdd. do you have a secondary ide hdd?

i got a asus a7n8x deluxe and the hdd-led isnt working for me either in ubuntu. it works in bios and windows.. but not in ubuntu. i think it has something to sata-drivers and ide/sata controller to do. it is little irritating because i cant see if the hdd is working or not sometimes. its so quiet so i cant hear it

someone found an solution? is this a bug? or? is it fixable?
